A buddy of mine and I have always had a joke that you can take the first lyric of any song and sing it for the entire song in different ways, so after we make a record, I go into the vocal booth, and as a joke, sing a one take ad-libbed vocal and see what happens, and then, in this case, we went and did some three part harmony on it and “Parked Out by the Lake” was born from my song “Vacant Motel Heart” that Paul Jacobsen and I wrote. I never intend for anyone to ever hear them because they are just inside jokes and goofing around in the studio, but I’d show someone from time to time (thus the private SoundCloud link on a random account), But I’ve been getting a barrage of text messages lately etc, so thousands of people have now heard it some how through the spread of that private link. I’m glad people think it’s as funny as we did when we made it. Dean Summerwind is Dustin's alter ego, sorta like Garth had Chris Gaines ;)
