This event marked a significant step in Kosovo's state-building process following its declaration of independence from Serbia on February 17, 2008. The constitution established the country's legal framework, laying out its government's structure, the separation of powers, and the rights and responsibilities of its citizens. It is a cornerstone of Kosovo's democratic governance and legal order, embodying principles such as protecting human rights, the rule of law, and the rights of communities and their members. Kosovo's Constitution Day is an opportunity to reflect on the country's progress in its democratic journey, the challenges it faces, and the aspirations of its people for the future. Celebrations include official ceremonies, educational events, and public discussions on constitutional matters, emphasizing the importance of the constitution in the everyday lives of Kosovars.
