We woke up with no bookings and discovered it was the last Sunday of the month — meaning free entry to Vatican City. From a sunrise walk to St. Peter’s Square to hours of waiting for the Sistine Chapel, this day took us through art, history, spirituality, and some unforgettable moments. We explored the Vatican Museums, wandered through rooftop gardens, admired ancient papal rooms, and finally stepped inside the breathtaking Sistine Chapel. Later, we visited St. Peter’s Basilica, the Pantheon, Castel Sant’Angelo, Trevi Fountain, and even caught the Colosseum glowing at night. Between long walks, tiny blessings, pasta, gelato, and candid moments with strangers… Rome gave us one of our most meaningful travel days ever.
