Tony Gaze was not just a racing driver, he wasn't just the man who helped to found the Goodwood Motor Circuit. He was both of those things AND a World War II Fighter pilot. To say that Tony Gaze was a man of daring would be to almost do him a disservice. The Australian air ace served in Britain during the war, before taking a Alta he had bought back with him to Australis to begin a racing career. But before he returned Gaze had become friends with Freddie, Duke of Richmond, the owner of the Goodwood estate and the RAF Westhampnett airfield stationed on it. It was Tony Gaze who suggested to the Duke that the outer roads of the airfield would make an excellent racetrack, and thus the Goodwood Motor Circuit was born. When Gaze returned from Australia to race in Europe he bought a stunning Aston Martin DB3S, which he raced at Goodwood in period. Now, that car is owned by Joe Macari, who brought it back to Goodwood for SpeedWeek presented by Mastercard in October 2020. It was raced by Emanuele Pirro, who here tells us all about this fabulous Aston. #gwspeedweek #AstonMartin #TonyGaze #gw_astonmartin Official Website 👉 http://www.goodwood.com/grr/ Facebook 👉 / goodwoodrrc Instagram 👉 / goodwoodrrc Twitter 👉 / goodwoodrrc SUBSCRIBE for more racing cars, supercars, new car reviews, historic motorsport and Goodwood event coverage 👉 http://bit.ly/GoodwoodTV Buy your Goodwood Event tickets 👉 http://bit.ly/GWBuyTickets
