The first tool is a flex shaft rotary tool. I also have a Dremel, but don't like it. Discs: I show abrasive discs, fiberglass reinforced abrasive discs, and diamond discs. Hacksaws are the best workshop tool for cutting metal. To cut steel, I use fine-toothed bi-metal saw blades. You can even get carbide blades for cutting hardened steel. I use blades with fewer teeth for cutting aluminum. Small hacksaws are also more practical for cutting through bolts. I don't like cutting metal with my jigsaw. I got an actual circular saw after cutting aluminum successfully. And it cut through everything I tried, probably 30 times faster than hacksawing. To try cutting steel, I raised the blade. Next up, I improvised a quick chopsaw with a door hinge to cut rebar. Later I tried cutting through a thick steel sheet. I made a video previously trying to use an angle grinder disc in a circular saw, and did it again, to cut this hardened stainless steel tube. Whenever possible, I cut metal with tin snips, because shearing is always faster than cutting with a saw. There’s no reason to have dull tin snips. Despite being called bolt cutters, possibly the only thing they can’t do it cut bolts, without ruining the threads. I wouldn’t call these a DIY tool. I never would’ve been able to imagine a simple woodworking chisel could cut steel, but it worked. I often find myself wanting to cut metal, but don’t have any tools. #metalworkingtools #circularsaw
