As is tradition, Andrew Wallace feigned reluctance while being ceremonially dragged to the Speaker’s chair. The Queensland MP was voted to take over from outgoing, and much-respected, Speaker Tony Smith. Wallace’s first day on the job was hectic and messy with many interjections from Labor calling on the Speaker to rein in the Coalition’s answers.
