Recovery Rebate Credits are what the IRS calls stimulus checks (Economic Impact Payments) at tax time. Most people who are eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit have already received the full amount. This was delivered in the two rounds of stimulus payments in 2020 into early 2021. If you got the full amount each time, you DO NOT need to claim the credit on your taxes. But anyone who was eligible for a stimulus check but did not get one or got a check but did not get the full amount, MUST file a federal tax return to claim the recovery rebate credit and get their stimulus money.
