Poonch attack: Special forces teams, drones, choppers launch search and destroy op

Five soldiers lost their lives after terrorists ambushed their vehicle and lobbed grenades in J&K’s Poonch on April 20. After the horrific attack, India Army and security agencies received inputs about presence of 6-7 terrorists operating in Rajouri-Poonch sector. The Indian Army has deployed multiple special forces teams along with drones and surveillance helicopters. Efforts are being made by the Indian Army to search for the assailants and destroy ops are being conducted. Defence sources have said that the terrorists are suspected to be from Pakistan-based outfit LeT. Search operations are being conducted extensively in the areas with multiple cave-type natural structures. The horrifying incident took place on a highway in the Bhata Dhurian area, around 90 kms from Poonch. Former J&K DGP Shesh Paul Vaid has smelled a conspiracy amid India’s ongoing G20 presidency.
