Through the First Person program, Holocaust survivors have the opportunity to share their remarkable personal stories of hope, tragedy, and survival with thousands of visitors at the Museum. This program was livestreamed on March 20, 2019. It features Peter Feigl, who was born in Berlin, Germany in 1929. Peter and his family fled to Brussels, Belgium after the 1938 Anschluss. During the next several years, Peter traveled and hid throughout Europe to avoid capture by the Nazis. He crossed the border into Switzerland on May 20, 1944 and eventually ended up staying with one of his father's business contacts in Switzerland for the rest of the war. After Liberation, Peter found out that both of his parents had perished in Auschwitz. In 1946, he immigrated to the United States, where he became a successful businessman.
