On this Classroom Calling we feature Jennifer Frye, a special education teacher at Huntington Elementary. Jennifer realized she is autistic while working with students whose thinking was similar to her own. This discovery brought clarity to her life and reshaped the way she taught and how she relates to those around her. Understanding autism from both a personal and professional perspective, Jennifer creates a supportive classroom where students learned to identify emotions, regulate behavior, and build confidence. Jennifer works alongside coworkers and parents to reframe autism as a difference, not a deficit. She desires to help others better understand autism and break down the stereotypes surrounding it, emphasizing that neurodivergent individuals can thrive and make meaningful contributions when their strengths are recognized and nurtured. *Because we are a K-12 public school, we have marked our videos safe for children.
