Original listing and sheet music here: https://musescore.com/user/36482158/s... "A Jungle Serenade". An artfully well-done rag, one of two known rags credited to Thomas Jefferson "Buster" Page. His other rag was "Tickle It" from 1912. Thanks to some great research by Musescore's Erling, we've been able to determine that Page was born in Ohio in either 1881 or 1883 to African-American parents and was talented as a musician, singer and teacher. He lived in Piqua, Ohio and moved to Lima, Ohio in 1910 where he spent the rest of his life. He wrote and published at least four songs in addition to the two rags and later became a composer of religious songs. In his earlier years he was known as Buster Page but appears to have abandoned the Buster nickname later. As Buster he was also known as a chef, had a saxophone trio and a "singing orchestra" at various times. To make ends meet in addition to music he is mentioned as having had a number of jobs such as bartender and laborer. He was a respected teacher of music and voice in Lima. Page married twice and had a son, Thomas, Jr. He died in 1966 and was buried in Lima, said to be 83 years old. Thank you to Mitchy for suggesting and sharing this nice rag, and to Rob Crausaz for making the original score available. I have posted the copy of the original score at this link: https://www.ceder.net/piano/download_... This is a reproduction of the original score. #ragtime #ragtimepiano #lima
