Hello and thank you for your interest in the case of Lucy Letby and in the Lucy Letby Dialectic Society (LLDS). Please complete and submit this form if you are interested in joining the society as either a writer/researcher/reviewer or as a supporter of our work. https://forms.gle/jkuRZwBqv9agcyRY8 Example document (as mentioned in the video) to follow... please watch this space!! The Lucy Letby Dialectic Society is a voluntary association of concerned citizens and professionals who employ the collaborative, iterative process of questioning, literature searching, and checking and re-checking of facts (the thesis-antithesis-synthesis cycle) in order to produce agreed and validated consensus statement documents in relation to the case of Lucy Letby as a whole and each of the individual babies referenced within it, for the purposes of establishing what is and can be known, and in the interests of truth, justice and the public good. We seek to share and disseminate our findings widely within both the public and professional spheres, and to initiate and facilitate discussions about them for the benefit of healthcare and legal service users both now and in the future. Members of the LLDS associate freely and without financial remuneration, and work only with the information that is already available in the public domain, having no special access to information or connections with those who hold it. We seek to develop open, transparent argumentation and to demonstrate good practice in pursuit of the truth in an age of ever-increasing scientific complexity. We offer our condolences to the families affected by this case, and hope that the truth will eventually bring them peace. AI Summary of the word 'dialectic': Dialectic is a method of reasoning and philosophical inquiry that seeks to uncover truth by examining the contradictions between opposing ideas. Derived from the Greek word dialegesthai, meaning "to converse," it has evolved from a literal dialogue between people into a complex framework for understanding history, nature, and psychology. Core Philosophical Models Socratic Dialectic (Elenchus): A form of cooperative inquiry where Socrates asked probing questions to expose contradictions in a person's beliefs, guiding them toward a clearer understanding or an admission of ignorance. Hegelian Dialectic: Developed by G.W.F. Hegel, this model views reality as a dynamic process where a thesis (an idea) encounters its antithesis (opposite), leading to a synthesis that preserves the truths of both while moving to a more sophisticated level. Marxist Dialectic (Materialism): Karl Marx adapted Hegel’s ideas to the material world, arguing that history is driven by the "dialectic" of class struggle—conflicts between opposing social and economic forces that eventually trigger revolution and societal change. Modern Applications Psychology: Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) helps individuals balance seemingly opposite concepts, such as accepting oneself while simultaneously working to change unhelpful behaviours. General Use: In everyday language, a "dialectic" refers to the interaction between two different forces or factors—like the "dialectic between tradition and innovation"—and how their tension leads to a resolution or new state.
