A quick winter overnight with the pup to catch a beautiful sunset & sunrise. One of my favorite Oregon trails. It's steep, but spectacular payouts! There's definitely cougar in the area, and I think we caught some morning tracks on our decent! Gear Items: 1. @rei Flash Air 50. For large food carries, winter trips, or camping with the dog. For 30% off it was a nice intro to the roll top and on the go accessibility. This pack has great functionality. Two changes would be to slim up the diameter a bit and add a bottom pocket w/ trash port - & slightly larger hip pockets. Really, I want a Flash Air 40 (net 50L) with those upgrades (actively hunting for 40L bags). 2. Winter Sleep: Still testing this, but @SeatoSummitGear Etherlight XT (the old one, purchased for 1/2 off), torso length section of foam pad (dog gets other section), @Zenbivy UL 25 paired with @SeatoSummitGear Spark 45. Zpacks Octa Hoodie w/ Smart Wool tights, Alpha beanie & heavy weight Darn Tough socks. I think this should be good to below freezing. 3. Tent would have been the @durstongear X-Dome 1+. I've only tested it a couple of times with the dog (He's new), but it is an awesome companion tent! Gear in the vestibule, dog in the triangle, plenty of room. I've also got the X-mid 1 for solo trips, but generally just really liking the subtle functionality improvements of the Durston Gear. You just feel that it works better.
