Welcome back. Today we’re on Lesson 2 of the A Course in Miracles Workbook. This lesson builds directly on yesterday and for many people, it’s the first one that truly starts to land. It explains why nothing we saw in Lesson 1 meant anything: Because we are the ones who gave it meaning. Today’s idea is: “I have given everything I see in this room [on this street, from this window, in this place] all the meaning that it has for me.” The Course isn’t asking you to pretend objects aren’t there. It’s showing you that the meaning you assign; the emotions, memories, labels, judgments. It doesn’t come from the object. It comes from your mind. A chair isn’t “comfortable” or “ugly” until you project meaning onto it. A phone isn’t “stressful” or “important” until you assign it that role. Even your body isn’t “good,” “bad,” “strong,” or “weak” until the mind tells that story. This is the beginning of understanding projection. Daily Practice The exercise today mirrors Lesson 1: Let your eyes rest on anything in your space and gently apply the idea: “I have given this table all the meaning it has for me.” “I have given this window all the meaning it has for me.” “I have given this body all the meaning it has for me.” Be indiscriminate. Don’t look for special things. Don’t avoid anything. A cup, a hand, a button, a floor; nothing is too small or too large. The only requirement is: Your eyes fell on it. This lesson is powerful because it exposes how much meaning we’ve invented without realizing it. We think we’re seeing the world as it is… but we’re really seeing our past, our projections, our interpretations. By practicing this gently, you create space between what you see and what you think it means. And in that space, a new kind of vision becomes possible — one not based on the past. Today, no pressure. No straining. You don’t have to believe the idea. You only need to be willing. You’re doing beautifully.
