In this video I check out the lead channel of the Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 40 and compare it to my Peavey 3120, Dual Rectifier and EVH 5150. A few notes: In the first two sound clips, you are hearing the bottom right speaker from each of the two cabs. In the third sound clip ("Shoot-out Part 2"), you are hearing the bottom left speaker of each cab. In the third sound clip, I only adjusted the settings on the Dual Rectifier. All the other amp settings stayed the same. About the amp settings, imagine a scale of 0-12, with 6 being the knob at the 12 o'clock position. For example, a 7 would be one notch past noon and a 5 would be one notch before noon. Both the Mesa and the Hughes and Kettner do not have notches behind their knobs, so I did my best. Signal chain: Jackson Soloist, Ibanez Tube Screamer TS-9 (all knobs at noon), Noisegate, BBE Sonic Stomp (all knobs at noon), Amp, Cab, SM57. No FX used on any of the guitar tones. Here is a link to the demo of the WGS Reaper HP 50's that are in the Peavey Cab: • Peavey Sheffield 1200's vs WGS Reaper HP 5...
