At 81 years old, I stopped asking God for things — and started just being with Him. For most of my life, prayer was a transaction. I brought Him my lists, my worries, my bargains, and my fears. I thought faith meant saying the right words and asking for the right outcomes. When my husband died and the words stopped coming, I thought my faith had failed me.
