“Biblical Disaster”: CME Chief Warns US Over Oil Market Intervention as Hormuz Crisis Grows

Terry Duffy, the head of CME Group has warned that US ntervention in oil futures would be a “biblical disaster”. He stressed that oil prices should be set by supply and demand and not manipulated in any way. US officials have also stated that Iran is placing mines in the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices still remain around $100 per barrel as the war in Iran continues. A US military aircraft has crashed in Iraq and US officials are saying that this has not been the result of hostile action or friendly fire. Scott Bessent has stated that the US Treasury has lifted certain sanctions on Russian oil, allowing countries to buy oil which is already in transit and is not applicable to any other form of Russian oil.
