The city of a temple - Kathmandu is an enormous treasure house of art and culture. Prithivi Narayan Shah said, "Nepal is the garden of all kinds of flowers".All the development process has been comparatively centralized within Kathmandu. So that, these various cultures have got opportunities to explore in national level. But, there is a diverse culture out of the valley as well. That has been overlooked by national media and government. With the motif of exploring these kinds of hidden culture, we decided to explore the culture of 'Khilji' from Arghakhanchi district. 'Khilji', there is the ancient history behind this name. There is a tale behind this name, 'Khilji'. In the ancient days, a Muslim king named 'Khildi' came here fighting and winning the Hindus state. He came here hiding with other state's kings. Later on, people started to name this place with his name, 'khildi'. They spelled, khildi, khildi' time and again and improvised into khilji. Although this place has been taken out from the undeveloped area, while comparing this with the 21st century's development process, this place is still following the primitive agricultural age. Natural beauties of this place can attract so anyone. The forest around this place is the source of various medicinal herb, that has lots of possibilities. When we dig down to the importance of this place, so many documentaries can be shot here. But taking advantage of ‘Dashain’ vacation, we were focused on the ‘saraye Naach’ . This dance is specially performed in the western district of Nepal, Like Arghakhanchi, Pyuthan, Gulmi and few others. This dance is performed in different places around the Dashain festival. But, in Khilji, this dance is performed at next day of Dashain. This Dance has its own originality. Although, this dance is performed with 'Panche Baaja' and other musical instruments, there no much diversity within itself. This is performed with tarbar and chawor in hand saying, ‘dung dung, wakkhai bhai ho, ha….’ and two people connecting back to back. Dung Dung words in dance indicate instrumental flow (bajako taal) and wakkhai word indicates winning the glory of war. Likewise, 'ha…' word in dance has its own history. And this word indicates a praise to youth after winning the war. 'Tarwar' handed in the 'saraye naach' indicate all the weapons that were used on the battlefield. Yak's tail, that is called ‘chawor’ in a native language, and it indicates the head of an enemy after slaughtering them on the battlefield. So that, taking 'tarwar' and 'chawor' in hand in 'saraye' indicate celebrating war glory. Likewise, while celebrating the glory of war, people carry 'chawor' and 'phoolpati' towards a water source. At last as a glory, people slaughter the animal and declare the accomplishment of 'Saraye'. Taking advantage of ‘Dashain’ vacation, we were focused to present ‘saraye Naach’. Likewise, while studying, we found this place is suitable for lemon farming. For that, we had a discussion with the local youth 'Himal Belbalse'.
