I’m sure we are all familiar with the concept of workstation graphics cards - Nvidia traditionally had their Quadro Range while AMD had a Pro Line of workstation cards. These cards in terms of silicon quality are the golden goose of chips - the best of the best and for maximum durability and longevity and the ability to stand up to the rigors of daily strenuous use can often be very appealing. In short - you pay a premium and you should expect to get the highest quality of components throughout. That said.. The theory of what these cards should be and the reality of what they are don’t always align. Like in every industry profit comes into play. And with my RTX A2000 this is the exact situation we find ourselves in - Although it’s a fantastic little card, compromises have been made to save cost and in what is a fairly common theme with Nvidias AMPERE graphics cards, this rears it’s head in the form of the cards poor OEM thermal interfaces... So lets fix it and show just how bad the stock cooling of these Workstation cards can be. For info the pad thickness used is 1.5mm thick.
