Cheems's Ideon video: • The Madness of Mankind | Space Runaway Ideon Kenny Lauderdale's Chargeman Ken video: • All of Japan is Still Making Fun of This I was pretty exhausted when I recorded this and I've since remembered a few more things I wanted to include. Patlabor the Movie 1: I never mentioned how interesting and effective E. Hoba was as a villain. Honestly one of my favorite depictions of a genuinely mad scientist, it was such a great choice to leave most everything about him completely up to the imagination of the viewer. A lesser series would've revealed that he was secretly alive and pulling strings the entire time, I'm so glad they kept him dead and have his master plan act as the threat to SV2 and Tokyo more than the actual man himself. He's such a well-done and menacing presence, it elevates the movie so much for me. Also all the Tower of Babel stuff towards the end was sick as hell. More people need to talk about this movie. Patlabor 2 always attracts all the discussion but Patlabor 1 is so good it's kind of mind-blowing. 1st Patlabor OVA: I never touched on how much I liked the variety offered across the episodes. The Godzilla and ghost episodes were really funny. That's all I wanted to add there Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise: Forgot to add this one to the tier list but it's another I watched during 2025. It'd go in the top. Beautifully conceived world and premise. For as fantastical as the setting is, the story is pretty down-to-earth and relatable. Shiro's struggle between genuine belief in his mission and apathy towards the world and circumstances that surround him is something I resonated with greatly. The opening speech really stuck with me, too. Even if Gainax was doomed to fail from the start, I'm still glad they managed to stick around for the time that they did. Such a shame they had to go the way they did in their final days. One could only imagine the type of stuff they'd be making now had Royal Space Force managed to recoup its budget (it probably never would've but one can dream). Uru in Blue doko
