Some of the prison scenes were very brutal and upsetting, and I had to take a breath and decide whether to keep going. I’m so glad I did. As the story unfolded, I became completely invested in the characters and their journey. This film surprised me in the best way. It’s not just a prison movie — it’s a story about hope, friendship, perseverance, and holding onto your humanity even in the darkest circumstances. By the end, I was an emotional mess. Seeing Andy and Red reunited in Mexico had me in tears, and it truly felt like such a well-earned, beautiful payoff. I really believe there’s a message in this film that everyone can learn something from. This is one of those movies that stays with you long after it ends.
