In this episode of the Road to 1500 ELO series, the game stays pretty balanced for a long time. Both sides develop normally and the position remains fairly equal heading into the middlegame. Then a tactical opportunity appears. I place my bishop where it looks completely hanging, but there’s a hidden idea behind it. If my opponent takes the bishop, it allows a royal fork tactic that hits both their king and queen at the same time. Unfortunately for them, they don’t spot the danger and grab the “free” bishop. That’s when the tactic lands—royal fork on the king and queen, winning the queen instantly. The moment the fork appears on the board… my opponent rage quits on the spot.
