GOTO Track 01 // Rewind & Repeat CRIMSON DIRECTIVE is the newest entry in my ongoing PSX series, where I imagine lost late-90s and Y2K-era soundtracks from fictional PlayStation discs that never existed but somehow feel familiar. This project dives deep into atmospheric drum and bass, ambient jungle, and liquid DnB inspired by 90s sample culture and the emotional weight of low-resolution futures. I wanted it to feel like discovering a scratched jewel case in 2001, loading it into your PS1, and hearing pads, breaks, and distant radio chatter fade in under a crimson sky. In this imagined game, you pilot the experimental combat unit known as the CRIMSON DIRECTIVE, a classified third-person mecha built for anomaly containment. The campaign begins in the Glass Desert Expanse, a vast low-poly wasteland of reflective red dunes and broken monoliths flickering with texture seams. Your mission: investigate a rogue signal bleeding through military channels, believed to originate from a decommissioned orbital relay that crashed decades ago. As you advance, the environments shift into impossible natural phenomena rendered in sharp triangles and fog-heavy draw distance: basalt storm canyons lit by looping lightning sprites, frozen inland seas with tiled ice textures stretching to the horizon, and a submerged research facility half-sunk into a polygonal abyss. Corrupted maintenance bots drift like ghosts, their AI scrambled by the signal. Later levels reveal the truth—this was never a rescue operation, but a classified purge. Every track follows a mission phase: infiltration, pursuit, aerial descent, and the final confrontation at the Crimson Relay Core. The production of the album is mainly centered around textures, one-shots and breaks coming from 90s sample CDs, together with selected samples, chops, melodic flips and atmospheric manipulations of PSX soundtracks. Best enjoyed during late-night coding in a dimly lit room with a CRT glow in the background, but also just on a quiet commute home. Thank you for continuing to explore these imagined worlds with me. Every release is a step forward in refining my sound and honoring the era that shaped me. I am constantly learning, experimenting, and pushing myself to create better atmospheres for you.
