Two more fantastic musicians have been added since, creating the ensemble’s Deluxe version. The band has played throughout the country in theaters, at jazz festivals, and international dance events. Its members have played with many great musicians including Jim Cullum, Willie Nelson, Pinetop Perkins, Erik Hokkanen, Grupo Fantasma, Jon Batiste, Wendell Brunious, Wayne Hancock, and so many more. The band reveres and embraces the wide spectrum of early jazz and swing styles while honoring the traditions with musical, stylistic, and spiritual contributions of its own. Thrift Set Orchestra Deluxe plays both sweet and hot simultaneously: at times reminiscent of a Duke Ellington small group or Django Reinhardt mingled with Milton Brown. The ensemble writes and plays tailored arrangements of classic material as well as original compositions.
