It has been nearly a month since a woman who was shot in Over-the-Rhine earlier this summer died from her injuries. Sheteaka Mitchell, 49, was shot in the head before 1 a.m. on Walnut Street at East Liberty Street on June 5. Cincinnati police say an officer in the area heard shots being fired. "Where's the safety in the communities? Senseless shootings, innocent people get hit," said Stephan Pryor, Mitchell's cousin. Pryor says his cousin was a mother of two and a grandmother. "Sheteaka was an outgoing person, a young lady, always smiling, always laughing," said Pryor. "I told you the story about how she had me laugh so hard on my knees outside; I'm like, tears came from my eyes after what she was saying, and that's something I won't forget." He said Mitchell lived just down the street from where she was shot. "She fought a strong fight for her life, she did. I got to go see her at the hospital; her eyes were opened up," said Pryor. "I never experienced getting shot before, but she was out fighting that bullet." That fight came to an end on July 25, when Mitchell died from her injuries. On Thursday, Pryor revisited the scene of the crime, hoping for some answers and justice for his family. "There are a lot of cameras out here. Some of these cameras are connected with each other; they can follow you from here all the way to your house. They need to turn themselves in, you know, do the right thing," said Pryor. "But he will be found, trust me; when you do dirt, it comes back on you." Police say the investigation into this incident is ongoing.
