Cooksongold customer Dave Wilson reviews the Setters, Engravers and Chasers Pitch. http://bit.ly/2n9Qfmu Setters Pitch is used in conjunction with a piece of wood to hold items when stones are to be set. Cement is melted with a yellow (cool) flame and put onto the wood. The item to be held is placed onto the warm cement and left to cool and set. Engravers Pitch is a red non-brittle pitch that is very simple to use, and is a much less toxic version compared to a black pitch, and the results are often better. The Engravers Pitch provides a strong support for chasing but is still soft enough to allow embossing of repoussé. The melting temperature of this engravers pitch is low enough to ensure that it can be safely shaped by hand. Chasers Pitch is a yellow medium-grade pitch that is very simple to use. The Chasers Pitch gives enough to form deep repoussé areas, but firm enough to chase on. It can be placed into a pitch bowl where it should then be heated gradually. The softening point is 56C° and the melting point is 128C°.
