Wildlands League and Mushkegowuk Council were delighted to present Tawich in the City on September 25 2024 at Koerner Hall, TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning in Toronto. Now it is available online. Tawich in the City connects hearts, minds and souls to Canada's great inland sea and its people. The Omushkego have lived along the shores of James Bay and Hudson Bay for millennia. Since the 1970s, Elders have said its preservation is of paramount importance for health, culture and ecosystem integrity. Now, modern science tells us how important the seacoast is for all of us, the shorebirds, ducks, polar bears, belugas, walruses, seals, fish and so much more. Enjoy a spectacular variety show with a truly uplifting message delivered by an incredible lineup of artists, scientists, community leaders, and conservationists. Take flight with the birds of the bays, swim with the belugas and be mesmerized by the music of Adrian Sutherland and the phenomenal storyteller and award winning author Tanya Talaga. This recording is being provided for free so that Tawich in the City can be experienced widely in support of marine conservation. Enjoyed the show? Take Action. Tell Premier Ford the provincial government needs to work with the Omushkego to protect the coast, near-shore areas and North French Watershed right away!
