During the Second World War, many women saw service inside of the different militaries. Many Soviet women were used as snipers, but inside of the American Air Force some nurses were pivotal for the evacuation of wounded soldiers. Flight nurses were key to the survival of injured servicemen, and the most experienced of World War 2 was Aleda Lutz. She managed to evacuate around 3500 injured soldiers and was very well thought off, and her care saved the lives of thousands. She would administer vital first aid onboard the aircraft, a C-47 Dakota and she would make them comfortable. But Aleda Lutz is also remembered for being the first American woman to die in World War 2, as her aircraft encountered problems in a storm over France. It crashed into the side of the mountain and no-one onboard survived. With this crash, she was the first American Woman to die in service during the conflict. She was later decorated with more accolades, and she is seen today as a heroic woman who's efforts during the deadliest war in history saved many lives.
