When I was a teenager I remember having a conversation with my friend’s mom about pot. I was trying to convince her that it’s not really a huge deal, and the bible doesn’t say not to do it. In fact, it doesn't mention marijuana at all. Her response was to quote Romans 13:2, “...those who refuse to obey the law of the land are refusing to obey God.” At this time weed wasn’t legal anywhere in the country, so her reasoning was…since it was illegal then it was wrong. However, since then the laws have changed. Now, it’s legal in almost half of the states and decriminalized in several others. So where does that leave us? Is marijuana a sin? How should Christians regard it now that it’s becoming legal? And what does the bible have to say…. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Scripture Used: Romans 13:2 “...those who refuse to obey the law of the land are refusing to obey God.” Proverbs 23:20-21 “Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags.” 1 Peter 5:8 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Thessalonians 5:6-8 “So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.” 1 Timothy 5:23 “Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.” Genesis 1:29 “Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” Psalm 104:14–15 “He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate—bringing forth food from the earth: wine that gladdens human hearts, oil to make their faces shine, and bread that sustains their hearts.” 1 Corinthians 10:23 "Everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial." Colossians 2:16-23 “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink…Do not let anyone who delights in false humility disqualify you…Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks for checking out Bargain Bin Theology!!!!!!!!!!!!!
