● 前庭　Maeniwa 路傍庭園を過ぎると、急に視界が開けて毛利邸正面の入口となる豪壮な車寄（くるまよせ）が見える。その前には巨大な灯籠と大きく育ったヤマモモ、サツキが配置され、前庭を海にたとえるならば、海に浮かぶ島を連想させる。 After passing the roadside garden, the view suddenly opens up, revealing the magnificent carriage entrance to the front of the Mohri residence in front of it ,a giant stone lantern is placed alongside mature Yamamomo(Japanese bayberry) and satsuki (Japanese azalea) ,evoking an image of an island floating in the sea if the front garden were likened to the ocean. ● 奥庭　Okuniwa 中雀門（ちゅうじゃくもん）から内庭に入ると目の前に雄大な庭園が広がります。旧毛利家本邸などを含んだ名勝指定面積は84,000㎡と広大で、このうち回遊式の庭園では四季折々の景観を楽しむことができます。毛利氏庭園（旧毛利家本邸の庭園）は西暦1996年（平成8年）に国指定名勝に指定されました。 Entering the inner garden through the Chujakumon gate, a magnificent garden spreads out before one's eyes.
