After two rigorous rounds, nine participants have been hand-picked to go head-to-head in the Final Round of Classic Strings’ Violin Competition, which is being organised by SAMIT Event Group, and supported by The Violin Channel. Listed in alphabetical order by surname, these finalists are: Elli Choi (USA) Sara Dragan (Poland) Anna Lee (Korea/USA) Dumitru Pocitari (Moldova/Israel) Anna Savkina (Russia/Switzerland) Dmitry Serebrennikov (Russia/Switzerland) Elena Tarosian (Armenia/Russia) Eimi Wakui (Japan/Austria) Xiaozhuo Wang (China/Austria) Over the next three days, they will each step up to the stage of the Music Hall at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray to perform alongside the internationally-acclaimed Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, led by the celebrated conductor Sergey Smbatyan, in front of a jury board chaired by Martin T:Son Engstroem (Sweden), and comprised of Andrey Baranov (Switzerland), Pavel Berman (Italy), Zakhar Bron (Germany/Switzerland), Michael Guttman (Belgium), Zuo Jun (Singapore), Boris Kuschnir (Austria), Dora Schwarzberg (Israel/Austria) Eduard Wulfson (Switzerland), and General Manager of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Avi Shoshani (Israel), who has just joined the jury board, travelling to Dubai solely to participate in this Final Round. Each day, three contestants will be allocated time to rehearse with the orchestra, with the performances themselves, which can last a maximum of 60 minutes, commencing at 15:00 and ending at 18:30. Today’s schedule: 15:00 - 16:00 - Audition Participant No.1: Elena Tarosian (Armenia/Russia) 16:15 - 17:15 - Audition Participant No.2: Eimi Wakui (Japan/Austria) 17:30 - 18:30 - Audition Participant No.3: Xiaozhuo Wang (China/Austria) The top prize winner of the Violin Competition shall be awarded a €50,000 cash prize along with a tour of ten concerts with an honorarium of €5,000 per concert. There will also be prizes for the first and second runner-ups, as well as a number of Special Prizes in recognition of different achievements throughout the competition.
