My Top iPad & iPhone Apps for Making Ambient Music

The iPad is a pretty incredible, portable tool for making music, including ambient music. In this video I discuss some of my personal favourite apps for making ambient music. Some are designed for iOS specifically, like Fluss by Bram Bos and Hainbach, others are desktop ports like Other Desert Cities or Circa by Audio Damage. These are all available for the iPad, many also run on iPhone, and some run on Mac as well. Most of these apps are AUv3 apps, meaning they can be run inside hosts like AUM, Loopy Pro, Logic Pro for iPad, etc. Now—you don’t NEED these particular apps for making ambient music. There are a million different ways to make ambient! You also don’t need many apps to do it. But in this video I also discuss some of the qualities that I think make for a good ambient/experimental app, and the apps covered are the ones I picked from the well over 1000 music production apps I have on my iPad.
