About the film, with the explosive growth of our urban landscape, our roads have become the death traps. How many times did you wonder, while leaving home, whether you would be returning home alive or in a gurney, or worst, in a coffin . The short film The last drink –tryst of fun Failure, Despair delves deep in to this fact. That how a seemingly harmless act can turn into a fatal mishap and how it effects people who are not even remotely connected to that . The story revolves around three sets of people who live in the IT hub of India., Bengaluru. The first set two men who works in some flashy IT company, set out to celebrate one of theirs birthday. The second set, a husband & wife , who are on the verge of a split, and having violent arguments. The husband is branded as a loser by all and sundry and he is locked down upon. The third , a lower class family, who are going through a terrible period of their life and their lone daughter required urgent life saving medical attention . The poor guy is struggling to source the money required for the procedure and is under tremendous pressure & frustrated at the little or no progress . On the event full evening , all the three meets at a cross road . A life changing event for many. But ultimately the suffers are not the ones who are directly impacted by it. Though the story is set in Bengaluru , it could be of any city , any place in India, Drunken Driving the menace on the road, is on an upswing and despite the police trying to check it with stringent measures, there is no respite from it. About the director The director of this film , Mr. shinu Mathew, is a native of Kerala , but has spent most of his life out of it. He has spent considerable time in Mumbai and later Bengaluru . He is working as a Civil CAD/3D Engineer for a UK based consultant , and is presently residing in Bengaluru with his Wife & Daughter. Writing is his passion and he has done a couple of novels but hasn’t mustered the courage to submit any thing for publishing. Background The story took shape in his mind after witnessing a horrible incident during his stay in Bellary , a district in Karnataka . A man was hit by a speeding truck, over his legs , and both the limbs were hanging by a small patch of skin. The bone and the flesh were a mess, flattened against the asphalt. All of a sudden , a girl, aged about 8, burst into the scene along with her mother. A heart breaking scream , an ear piercing one, rang out as the girl saw her father lying in a pool of blood. That instance spurred a story and he steadfastly pursued it till this moment to get this short film released.
