Why is Housing Inventory so Low? The Real Reason There are so Few Homes on the Market
Housing inventory is at a historic low. There are fewer homes on the market today than at almost any time in history. Low housing inventory is mostly because there is a housing shortage in the US. This housing shortage is a result of not enough homes being built over the last decade. The great financial crisis wiped out a lot of new home builders and in doing so caused less home builders to build houses. Also it was not financially economical for home builders because they could not biuld a new home to add to the housing inventory when home prices were so low in the resale market because they could not compete with that.
