The Minesweeper M20, built 1941, arrives at the first locks of Göta Kanal, Sjötorp, Sweden 2024.

The museum ship, M20, a former Swedish Navy minesweeper, arrives at Sjötorp, the beginning and end of Göta Kanal in lake Vänern, Sweden, august of 2024. The ship is marked as culturally and historically significant, and is preserved, maintaned and operated by a foundation. Owner is the Swedish Nautical Museum and port of station is Stockholm, Djurgården, Galärvarvet. Main engine is two Scania DS11 diesels. Seen running in this film you can also see and hear the auxillary engine/s (Valmet 320 x 2) providing power and hydraulics. Max speed is around 13 knots, but the ship operates most comfortably around 10 knots the crew told me, and is then also most economical using some 40 litres of fuel per hour. The hull is made of mahogany on steel frame and the frame is reinforced by oak and lind wood. Wheelhouse is made of aluminium. Launched by Neglinge warf, december 1, 1941. The 20mm automatic cannon has been removed and parts of the ship is "civilized", amongst other things the chimney is converted to a shower for the crew, without compromising the look and feel of the ship.
