Johnson, Art Farmer, Stan Getz, Kenny Burrell, and Kenny Barron, among countless others. Reid’s book, ‘The Evolving Bassist’, continues to be recognized as the industry standard, definitive bass method. As a composer, Reid’s 2014 big band album “Quiet Pride – The Elizabeth Catlett Project” was nominated for Best Large Jazz Ensemble, and Best Instrumental Composition for ‘Recognition’ (the first movement of the suite) at the 57th GRAMMY Awards.
