He is the manager of new teacher and leader development within the region’s Teacher Residency Program. Charles received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, and his Master’s of Education in Educational Policy and Leadership from American University in 2020. Charles’ hope for providing equitable education and social-emotional support to students and their teachers prompted him to join Teach For America in 2015. Since, he has spent almost a decade serving students, school systems, and communities within the greater- Atlanta, DC, and Charlotte areas through charter and independent schools, and nonprofit organizations. Charles has previously held roles as a middle school administrator (at Trinity Episcopal School), 6th and 7th grade literacy teacher (at KIPP WAYS Academy), career development manager (with Gardhouse), Site Director (with Breakthrough Collaborative), and regional education coach (with Profound Gentlemen). In his current role, he is most excited about growing and supporting Atlanta’s next crop of strong and effective educators.
