Spence is viewed as a very big 147lber, and there has long been speculation he will move up in weight to light middleweight at some point. In a recent interview with ESNews, the Texan confirmed he would indeed ‘definitely’ be moving up to 154lbs, as soon as his business with Crawford is concluded. “I’m currently making weight now, so it’s something that’s been on my mind. I’ll definitely move up after this fight.” All four world titles at light middleweight are currently held by Spence’s good friend and stablemate Jermell Charlo, who will move up two weight classes to challenge Canelo Alvarez on September 20th. And Spence went on to say he would not rule out taking on Charlo, should he still have the belts when ‘The Truth’ moves up in weight. “That’s something me and Jermell would have to talk about. I just wish him the best in his fight with Canelo.” Spence will not be looking too far ahead of his clash with Crawford, however, in what is undoubtedly the biggest fight of both men’s careers thus far. The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will play host to the mammoth four belt unification, for which three weight world champion Crawford is a marginal bookmakers’ favourite.
