She performs internationally as a soloist, chamber musician, and guest concertmaster. Recent highlights include appearances at the Vielklang Festival (Germany), Artematica Festival, Uppermill Music Festival, and recitals at Southwark Cathedral, Barbican, and St James’s Piccadilly. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Berlin Konzerthaus, Grafenegg Castle, Barbican Hall, Royal Festival Hall, and across Europe. As a soloist, she has appeared with the Vielklang Festival Orchestra, Master Orchestra, City of London Soloists, and Hornton Chamber Orchestra. Born in 1997, Paula began violin studies at six in Riga, later earning First Class BMus and Distinction MMus degrees from the Guildhall School under Prof. Jacqueline Ross. She has participated in masterclasses with Tasmin Little, Nicola Benedetti, Friedemann Eichhorn, and members of the Chilingirian, Endellion, and Heath Quartets. She has worked with conductors including Sir Simon Rattle (LSO Side-by-Side), Baldur Brönnimann, Vassily Sinaisky, Marin Alsop, and Normunds Vaicis. Awards include the Ivan Sutton Chamber Music Prize, ULSA Sounderpreis, and Wolfson Foundation Instrument Award. A Talent Unlimited artist since 2017, she has also supported the charity as a Supporting Artist since 2022. She co-founded the Gorbanoff String Quartet and Chiarina Piano Quartet, performing across the UK and Europe. Recent collaborations with Athens Philharmonic musicians led to concerts in Athens and New York. Paula plays a 19th-century Italian violin, kindly loaned by Florian Leonhard. She is grateful for support from Guildhall, Help Musicians UK, Wolfson Foundation, and others. Dedicated to education, Paula teaches at the Centre for Young Musicians and has been a Professor at Blackheath Conservatoire since 2022. She regularly leads outreach projects and has worked with youth orchestras across England. Douglas Tang Douglas Tang is a versatile conductor, keyboardist, and coach. He is Choral Director of the Vielklang Festival (Germany), Artistic Director of ExCollegium, Music Director of ArchiCantiores, and associate conductor of the Choralies Festival (France), among others. Previously, he held roles at St Mary’s Cathedral (Sydney), the Old Royal Naval College (Greenwich), and was Organ Scholar at King’s College, Cambridge. Born in Hong Kong, Douglas studied at Harrow and Dulwich College before earning a place at Cambridge. Originally a pianist and flautist, he took up the organ later, building a career in the English choral tradition. He has conducted orchestras, chamber ensembles, choirs, and opera productions. Highlights include Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, post-COVID choral revivals with the Vielklang Festival Chorus, and recording music for a Marvel film with ExCollegium. He has appeared at major festivals and venues across Europe and the US, including the Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House, and Washington National Cathedral. As a collaborative pianist and répétiteur, Douglas coaches singers across the UK and internationally, including for Opera Stage in Berlin. He has performed with leading ensembles such as the Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic, Britten Sinfonia, Academy of Ancient Music, and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. His recent CD The Hereford Experience was praised for its expressive and articulate playing. A champion of contemporary music, Douglas has premiered works by composers such as Robin Holloway and Cecilia McDowall. He has received awards including the Brian Runnett Prize and Sir Anthony Lewis Memorial Prize. As an educator, he has taught on Eton Choral Courses, Oundle for Organists, and at the Royal College of Organists.
