How's this for an unusual recipe? Chicken, bacon, bananas and peanuts, all mixed together with chili sauce and whipped cream into a casserole/stew combination. Believe it or not, in the 1970s this was one of Sweden's most popular kids' dishes...and we like it, too. Watch this episode of Door County Girl to find out how you can make it for your family! RECIPE: Flygande Jakob (English: Flying Jacob) INGREDIENTS: 1 lb cooked chopped chicken meat (store bought rotisserie Chicken works well) 2 bananas sliced in ¼-inch slices 1 lb cooked bacon cut in medium sliced pieces 1-1/4 cups of chopped cocktail peanuts 1-1/2 cups of whipping cream 12 oz. bottle of Heinz chili sauce 1 t cayenne pepper (optional if less heat is preferred) 2 T chopped parsley DIRECTIONS: • Preheat oven to 350˚ F • Put chicken, bacon, bananas, and peanuts a bowl. Save a small amount of bacon and peanuts to sprinkle on top. • In another bowl, whip the whipping cream until slightly stiff. • Fold in the chili sauce and cayenne until smoothly incorporated. • Add the 2 bowls together gently folding the ingredients. Then transfer the mixture to baking dish and bake for 20 minutes. • Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle the top with reserved bacon, peanuts, and parsley. • Scoop out and serve.
