The team also highlighted the inefficiency of the UCAT’s on-screen calculator, recommending strong mental maths and whiteboard shortcuts instead. Regular practice with the actual UCAT calculator was encouraged, especially using keyboard shortcuts for multiplication and memory functions (M+, M-, MRC). Candidates were advised to study common time traps, such as unnecessarily reading long question stems, and to develop the habit of looking at the question first, then scanning the data only if needed.
