On day five of the US-Israeli war with Iran, the conflict continues to escalate. US and Israeli bombing has killed nearly 1,000 people in strikes on Iran, while Iran’s government has widened its attacks on the Gulf to US embassies, energy facilities and global shipping, Meanwhile over in Washington, the Trump administration is increasingly under pressure from Congress to articulate its goals for this war - and a realistic timeline for achieving them. The administration’s initial calls for the Iranian people to rise up and take over from their government have since been tempered by technical discussion of Iran’s nuclear and missile capacity. But reports have also emerged of the US government working to arm Kurdish groups on Iran’s border, suggesting this campaign could enter a more aggressive and destabilising phase. So today, we are going to ask - how far is the US willing to go in Iran? How realistic is its desired outcome? And how does the affect it's relations with the Gulf as it continues bombing them?
