Opening remarks by Nicolae Banicioiu, Romanian Minister of Health, at Bucharest Forum Healthcare 2015, held at the National Institute for Statistics, on March 27. Mr. Nicolae Banicioiu graduated from the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the Medicine and Pharmacy University Carol Davila in Bucharest in 2004. Between 2002 and 2004, he was the President of the Romanian Students' Union and coordinated the anti-drug campaign named “Choose Life in 2003”, and the festival of the Romanian students UNIFEST in 2002 and 2003. Within the Social Democratic Youth (TSD), he was elected vice president on Sept. 19, 2004 and president in 2007. He is a member of Romanian Chamber of Deputies since 2004. In his last term as deputy, he was quaestor of the Chamber of Deputies and was member of Labour and Social Protection Committee, Committee for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men, Committee on European Affairs and Committee for Culture, Arts, Mass Information Means. On December 9th parliamentary election, he won a new term as deputy, representing the Social Liberal Union (USL). In December 2012 he was appointed Minister of Youth and Sports, and on February 2014 Nicolae Banicioiu took over the position of Minister of Health.
