Homeric Rhapsody - PART 89 - IDOMENEUS RAGES THROUGH THE HOST (Raid of Eëtion's Thebe)

I'm practicing telling stories from the Iliad off the top of my head, in order to more effectively write content for my game based on the Iliad. 🟢 This episode is part of an original story I'm creating, which tells the story of Achilles raiding Eëtion's city of Thebe, using the framework of the Irish legend of Cú Chulainn at the Cattle Raid of Cooley. 🔺 The method I'm using is the ancient tradition of oral poetry, and more specifically oral-formulaic composition, which means: ‣ I don't prepare any written notes or reference (writing hadn't been invented in Homer's time) ‣ I'm assembling whichever pieces I can remember, shaping them how I see fit ‣ I fit all the elements together with connective story material I make up myself ‣ The story must flow, and there can be no revisions mid-performance 🔺 Everything comes off the top of my head, and as you can see, I am not looking at anything off-screen while telling the story. I'm not necessarily shooting for an exact retelling of what we know as the Iliad, but telling a 'living' version of the story, which would change every time it's told.
