THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA arranged for guitar/bass/drums. A while back I was working on writing something original when I realized I was using a melody from this song - one thing lead to another and I ended up making this haha. This is song is just so good, and a fun challenge to work out. I originally thought I’d record new vocals over this as well but it never worked out to get two worthy singers in for it, so vox are supplied by the 1986 London cast courtesy of Logic Pro’s stem splitter and a tempo adjustment. (Thanks Apple!) This guitar arrangement is heavily based on the original score with a few modifications to selected chord voicings in ways that made more sense for me and how I wanted to play it. There is a good pdf of the sheet music with the old/original lyrics floating around on the internet that supplies guitar chord names & charts if you want to go sleuthing and reference that. The charts in this video go quickly but you can hit pause and sort it all out if you want - if you’re giving it a go please let me know in the comments! Theory nerds - chord names are pretty much all from the score. But I did add a few 7’s and the chord names don’t account for inversions (e.g. bass guitar might be supplying the root note). But feel free to correct me on anything (nicely) as I am curious about such things. CONFESSION - I am a pretty amateur drummer and couldn’t quite get a take I liked well enough, so there are two spliced together and then I ended up just MIDI replacing it all to tighten it up a hair further. This is the internet, nothing is real! But everything else you see is what you’re hearing with a couple of tiny touch up edits. Or maybe it’s all AI who knows anymore. Anyway, thanks for watching!
