Siyeh Pass is one of the best and most awe inspiring hikes in Glacier National Park. It is a point to point trail so you will need a vehicle drop off or you will need to use the shuttle system. We dropped our vehicle and Sunrift Gorge (off of the Goint-To-The-Sun Road) and had a ride lined up to the Siyeh Bend trailhead so we would have our own vehicle when we finished. That way we knew we had some comfortable lawn chairs, a cooler filled with beverages and food, and a great view of the peaks over Saint Mary Lake when we finished. The hike can be done in 9.9 miles with no deviation from the trail. Ours was a bit longer. We started at the Siyeh Bend Trailhead and headed up the Piegan Pass trail for 2.4 miles. The Siyeh Pass trail breaks right an additional 2 miles up to Siyeh Pass. Once at the pass you begin to make your way down to Sunrift Gorge which is about an additional 5.5 miles. We took a detour out to Sexton Glacier adding a mile or two. Our route ended up at just over 12 miles in total. This trail boasts some of the most iconic views in Glacier - in particular the descent from Siyeh Pass to Sunrift Gorge is phenominal. Consider adding some miles out to Sexton Glacier for some up-close glacier fun. We did encounter a Mama Grizzly Bear with two cubs on the way down that mostly remained a safe distance from the trail.
