We take a look at Avonmouth Docks which is a part of the Port of Bristol, they are a significant part of the region's maritime economy, handling heavy goods and large vessels for unloading and export. The area is primarily industrial, with warehousing, light industry, and utilities. Upon arrival we went down to chat with the Port Police officer posted at the entrance gate booth, who admits to us he doesn't really know about the drone side of things despite saying we can't bring a drone over, then decides to send us to St Andrews House (where the Bristol Port Company operates from) to speak to the HR Manager. After several sets of stairs to the reception located on the top floor, the receptionist requested our details which we naturally declined before calling for a manager to come out and talk to us. This chap believed that ports/docks are 'special' therefore are restricting our ability to fly over. This is wrong, we spoke to him about the laws on drones and especially sub 250g drones.
