As part of Milan Design Week, The Experience Blum EuroCucina 2024 Tour provided architects and designers with a unique architectural and culinary experience exploring Milan and Austria while revealing what the Blum brand is all about. Milan Design Week is an annual event where the design world comes to Italy, exploring Milan and the world's biggest furniture and design fair with exhibitions, installations, talks, pop-ups and workshops. “It was pretty spectacular, the vibe, the fit-outs of events were amazing,” says Annaliese Edwards, associate Hayball Architects. “It’s the vibe of the whole city during design week that draws me here,” comments Gavin Hestelow, owner of Gavin Hestelow Architect. He continues; “To be able to walk down the street and know that there are people from the design world all around you, it’s special.” Architect at Mathieson Architects, Ariel Ophir-Verheyden also reflects on Milan Design Week as “intense” in that there are so many designers and architects in one space, highlighting the sheer magnitude of the architecture and design community. “The fair itself lived up to expectation, it comes down to the smallest details… you know that they care about design, no matter what it is,” says Ophir-Verheyden. As an extension of the week’s festivities exploring Milan, Blum, a leading manufacturer of fittings for high-quality kitchens and furniture, invited a select group to experience the brand. “Blum is a very unique company, its values are very strong and the family orientation of the business extends all the way throughout the company,” comments Ophir-Verheyden. Owner and CEO Philipp Blum reflects on the roots and growth of Blum. “Our headquarters in Austria is really the starting place for everything,” he says. “[Höchst in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg] is a small town… but we are really dedicated and happy to be here.” Serving as the hub for functional hardware in Austria, Blum is a family-run business much loved by locals and across the world. “What makes me proud is seeing our team taking care of the customers and putting customers at the centre of their attention and all the dedication they give,” says Blum. “At the moment, the whole industry is facing challenging times but I’m really eager to turn these challenges into opportunities because in the end it's all about the homeowner and making life more comfortable and making beautiful spaces within the home.” Along with exploring Milan, as part of the tour guests were given a rich and immersive insight into the Blum brand, how they work and what makes Blum so successful. “We were on a social tour offered to a select group of people to experience what Blum is all about… they showed us who they are and what they do and what their brand represents,” says Hestelow. “We visited Blum's apprenticeship program where we heard from first and second-year apprentices... I found it really inspiring and heartwarming to see how much Blum invests in the business and into the community,” reflects Ophir-Verheyden. “Whether or not I were to come on this trip, I would continue to specify Blum, but getting to know the brand that much better has really reinforced it,” he says. This once-in-a-lifetime experience exploring Milan and Austria highlights how cultural immersion and global experiences inspire thoughtful, innovative design. 00:00 - Introduction To Salone del Mobile 02:05 - The Blum EuroCucina Tour 02:37 - Blum's Heritage And Team 03:40 - Giving Back To The Community 04:54 - Personal Highlights Of The Tour For more from The Local Project: Instagram – / thelocalproject Website – https://thelocalproject.com.au/ LinkedIn – / the-local-project-publication Print Publication – https://thelocalproject.com.au/public...
