The Shredder is back in Hunt: Showdown 1896 — and it’s nothing like the version you remember. With the Murder Circus Encore update, the iconic Shredder returns as a fully reworked scarce weapon with a much higher skill ceiling. In this video, I put the new Shredder through its paces and break down exactly how it works, how it performs in real matches, and whether it feels balanced in the current Hunt meta. This new version removes the old heat-seeking frag blades entirely and replaces them with pure physics-based sawblades. There are no alternate ammo types — just standard blades that ricochet based on angle, require precise positioning, and reward precise angles. The Shredder now features a manual charging system, slower and more deliberate pacing, and a full-magazine reload that forces you to make every shot count. I go over the Shredder’s core mechanics, including: • Manual charging and spin-down behavior • Ricochet angles and projectile physics • Damage, range, velocity, and reload system • Close-, mid-, and long-range performance • Audio cues and positioning considerations • Trait synergies like Blade Seer and Blademancer • How it compares to shotguns, bows, and crossbows • Strengths, weaknesses, and real gameplay examples The Shredder is a scarce weapon that can only be obtained inside the main circus tent and purchased with Pledge Marks, with only one spawning per match. I also talk about how it fits alongside other scarce weapons like the Homestead and Wildland, and whether this rework feels healthy for Hunt: Showdown’s long-term balance. For this mastery run, I mostly paired the Shredder with the Uppercut to cover mid- to long-range engagements without needing the Quartermaster trait. If you’re wondering whether the Shredder is worth picking up, how difficult it is to use effectively, or how it compares to its original version, this video has you covered. What do you think about the Shredder returning and the way it was reworked?
