New Animals by Trio_io - jazz, avant-classical, electro-acoustica, and chamber music from Poland.

Poland has a long history producing inspiring underground and avant-garde music in the form of early electronic/electro-acoustic music, tape manipulation and looping to accompany short experimental films and theatre. In the early 60s sonorism emerged as dedicated art form to move away from structure and form and explore qualities of timbre, articulation and dynamics. On ‘New Animals’ Trio_io continues in this formless tradition, where exploring shapes, colours and textures is prominent. The trio of Zofia Ilnicka (flute), (Łukasz Marciniak), (electric guitar) and Jakub Wosik (violin) are recognisable as an improv trio but New Animals extends far beyond the structural boundaries of jazz and draws on avant-classical, electroacoustica, and chamber music.
